Log Cabin Selvage Quilt Finish!

A finish on my Log Cabin Selvage Quilt, it's on my bed...nice and bright for spring!  

Here's the back, (also some black and white peace signs on the back), I was short a bit on the yardage for the back even when I bought the rest of the bolt of fabric.  I knew this was the backing for this quilt when I saw it.

The binding is... selvages, of course.

Sew the selvage on the back, then flip to the front and top stich.  I made this border about 1/2-5/8" on the front as I like a hint of the fabric showing with the selvage.  Also, the fantastic quilting by Judy Irish shines through in this close up... a shout out to Judy for her creative quilting!!  Best to you and yours this fine Sunday evening.

Squaring Up

Almost a finish on my Log Cabin Selvage quilt, this thing is a monster...a king for my bed!  It's back from the quilter and I squared it up yesterday. The first side of the binding is pinned on and waiting as I type.

Quilted by Judy Irish of Wild Irish Rows Quilting... wow!!!  Love this sun.

Memorial Day Weekend

Hope you are having a restful holiday, I'm working on finishing the quilting on my first selvage quilt, and made a couple of key fobs this morning.

One for me and one for my girl the ball player.

Obsession!

I am going to admit what you probably already know, I am obessesed with selvages!  The Selvage Quilt, Log Cabin Style is officially a flimsy, king sized as you can see here.

I made a 14" border for the bottom of the quilt, you really won't see it as the foot board will cover it, also made a 3 1/2" border for both edges...

Checking my List

Well, can't check off everything on the list from Friday, but finished a couple of them.

1. Finish last square for the Selvage Quilt - Log Cabin Style   

You'll have to take my word for it, I finished the last Log Cabin block for the Selvage quilt... no picture.

2. Binding for Dia de los Muertos

Binding in lovely sherbert color!

Sewn on, still need to hand sew.

3. A little Hexie Sewing

2 yellow hexies... done while the kids at basketball practice.

4. Quilting on my 1st Selvage Quilt, Yikes, it's almost done, just sitting there 1/2 quilted.

Nope, not done.

4. Looking for a new project, I have one circling around in my head

It''s swirling around, I pulled out the bacckgound and am thinking on it.

I also bought a new to me sewing machine at a garage sale, I'll take pictures of my new baby and show her off later in the week.

Weekend Projects

Well, I'm looking forward to the weekend, as I'll be home and want to get some projects finished up.

1.  Finish last square for the Selvage Quilt - Log Cabin Style

2.  Binding for Dia de los Muertos

3.  A little Hexie Sewing

4.  Quilting on my 1st Selvage Quilt, Yikes, it's almost done, just sitting there 1/2 quilted.

4.  Looking for a new project, I have one circling around in my head!

One more square to go!!!!

You can see where that last square will go, and that I'm making a selvage border.  I will add these squares to the portion already sewn together, here!!  King sized!  For my bed.

And here's what's been percolating in my head, finally I'm going tackle this quilt... I made the letters and background last year, and somehow put off the applique part.  So I'm gonna give it a whirl. 

I've been doodling my ideas as well, doodling can get me through any class or meeting!

A beautiful 75 degrees here on the front porch this evening!  Enjoying a bit of the warmth and sunshine.  The Selvage Quilt, Log Cabin Style is partially sewn together... 2 more rows to go.  I have one rown done, just not sewn on yet, so 5 more blocks.  I sewed it together before vacation to make room on my design board for more.

Selvage Quilt

Here's a looksy at my design board; the selvage quilt, log cabin style is coming along and you can see the pattern now.  I went through all my white fabrics and cut all the selvages off, kind of funny,  Usually, I just cut them as I use fabrics.  This is going to be king sized, so 25-30 eighteen inch blocks.

Selvages, Log Cabin Style

           Another square for my second selvage quilt... I used the stars and moon quilt selvages.

and... here's what I have so far.

I sewed the binding on the Stars and Moon quilt this evening, should have it finished in the next day or so.  Just in time, the baby is due next week.  :)

Quilting Again!

Finally, I have started to quilt my selvage quilt that I finished piecing several months ago.  I'm straight line quilting the "star" part.... not sure what to do on the "spider web" parts yet.  Something will pop into my head as I work my way through the stars.  5 stars down, 20 more to go!

Usually, I piece the back of my quilts as well, however I went with"Wild Garden" by Dan Bennett on the back and also used it for the border... with the selvage intact, of course! 

I am so looking forward to Friday!
