If in Doubt, Start a New Quilt

Just didn't feel like working on any of my current projects... I've always been a good procrastinator!
Inspired by a Japanese quilt I saw on Pinterest and not really sure where it will end up.

Freddy in the House!

Over the weekend, I attended a class taught by the marvelous Freddy Moran.  If you don't know who she is, just "google" her!  Amazing class with amazing new friends.  Here's a couple of pictures of my collage quilt in progress... Day of the Dead.  :)

More coming soon, as I promised to update this blog more often!  Here's a shout out to my new friends, many of whom I met through this blog and a couple from class this past weekend, Opal, Judy, Stephanie, Sue, Merry Merry, Mary, Kelly... several of them, Kathy, Kathleen, Dorothy, Kristi, and a couple more that I cannot remember right now.  And of course, Freddy!  There were lots of Kathy's and lots of Kelly's so no one really knew what my name was... haha.  :)

Here's blogs that I know of:

6th Grade Quilt Finish

Here's my first quilt of 2014 finished in January, it was a donation for a fundraiser that I made with my son's 6th grade class.  I cut out all the squares ahead of time and then put a scrappy border on half of the squares. Next I hauled all my irons and ironing boards to school and we used an iron on adhesive to adhere the fabric to the squares.  Trying to keep in theme, I provided some templates, or the kids could make up whatever they wanted to put on their square.  I thought some kids would be finished in 5 minutes, but it took over an hour for most to finish.  It was fun to watch them pick out their fabrics and to watch them try to figure out how to use the iron on adhesive.  And trying to explain that iron on adhesive to 6th graders is challenging at best!  I only took a couple of pics, here they are...

I am playing catch up, more quilts, fabric and projects coming soon.

Funky Chicken Quilt

Here's one of my latest projects a Funky Chicken Quilt...

...inspired by Freddy Moran, of course, you gotta love Freddy!

And here's all the girls thus far!

I made some in other background colors, but am thinking to stick with the yellow as they really seem to pop. We will see what comes of it, really no plan yet.  The best kind of quilting.

I'm Baaack...

...with some recent fabric purchases (of course) for a few projects that I'm currently working on...

This for my Tra La, Tra La quilt binding...  It's recently back from the most fantastic quilter Judy Irish.  I think I'm settled on this after testing several fabrics, and even making a binding and then tearing it off after not being happy with it!  Pictures of the quilt and the quilting coming soon I promise!

A couple of yellows as I am making Freddy Moran chickens.

And black and whites...

Have a great week!  :)

Peace Quilt Update

This quilt on it's way to the quilter today...
it's a smaller quilt for my entry hall.

This IKEA fabric for the back, it's a larger scale
print.  I just discovered IKEA fabrics on a spur of the moment trip stop into the Sacramento, CA store.

This quilt combines many of my favorite things, peace signs, bright free pieced fabrics, and word fabric and makes me smile. :)

Snuggles

I was under the gun last week to make a baby gift for a friend at work... a quick stop at the fabric store on the way home and ta da, here's what I came up with...  snugly, flannel blankies, two sided with some fancy stitching for the edges.

Of course, I favor the bright fabrics, however couldn't pass up the I Love Mommy, I Love Daddy fabric here.

Happy Stitching!
