Damien Quilt Finish!

I have finished quilting, binding and washing the Damien Quilt for a soft, snuggly finish.

Mostly straight line quilting, I threw in some stars to mix it up.

It will be off to it's new home in OK next week.

Hope your enjoying the weekend.

Lake Tahoe with a FINISH too!

Up at Lake Tahoe this weekend for my son's basketball tournament, and I planned ahead, which in itself is amazing.  I made the binding for my original Horsey Quilt (click to see prior post) and completed the quilt between games.  I was emailing my blog friend Em and as she said having our own little sewing circle, how fun!  So here photos...

I always forget just how beautiful Lake Tahoe is, when you drive up the highway and finally see that blue, there is nothing like it in the world.

A great t-shirt sold in a local eatery...

My proud accomplishment, binding complete.

Enjoy your new quilt Ruthi:

Have a great Tuesday.

T-Shirt Quilt

This seems to be the year of the t-shirt quilt, another one finished for Coach Dave's son, a lacrosse player.  (I must tell you the t-shirt quilts have invaded my sewing room with stacks of boxes in this corner and that corner... a promise here, another one there and viola... boxes everywhere!) This quilt is very similar to the quilt made for my daughter's softball team shown here.  Without further ado....

Here's to F-R-I-D-A-Y!!!!!! Yippee!

Another Finish!

I have several projects "in the works" (of course).  Finally got around to finishing the Hourglass Quilt over the weekend.  I had made the binding and it was a few inches too short, so there it sat until I finally made a quick trip to the local shop and purchased ONLY the little extra fabric that I needed.  That ONLY may have been a first for me!

I'll have photos of the back soon, I took these as I ran out of the house this morning.  Happy Tuesday!

Kaitelin Quilt Done.... Finally - Phew!

The project that was only going to take a couple of days is finally pieced.  How come I always SEVERELY underestimate the amount of time it takes to complete something?  Here's the pic's.

I used up all my scraps from the original Horsey quilt, and then some.  All the border is pieced from the scraps from the flying geese in the original quilt.  I cannot bring myself to throw those away and I have used them in many projects.  I also had many 1" strips that made the quilt very scrappy.  I am quilting this one myself, so hopefully can get a start on that this weekend!

Finish!!!!

An official finish, bound, labeled, DONE.  This was a t-shirt quilt commemorating my son Andrew's considerable baseball travels.  I sent it out to be quilted and really like the all over geometric pattern.  Here we go.

I have been saving T-shirts since 1997!!!!!

Bound and backed with baseball fabric.

And even labeled, I made myself make the label even though I didn't want to, it's surprising how quickly it's done if you just take care of it right away.  I am usually a huge procrastinator!  This was Andrew's 23rd birthday present, I wrapped the pieced top for his birthday.

and the quilting is nice, I had always just done simple machine quilting myself on prior t-shirt quilts.

Last Minute

I have been furiously sewing on a t-shirt quilt to be auctioned off this evening at a fundraiser for my daughter's softball team.  It is made from t-shirts and other softball apparel that the girls wear for games and practice. I stayed up late last night to finish off the quilting and then up bright and early this morning to make the binding and sew it on, phew.  Does this sound familiar to anyone?  Here are some pictures, although hurriedly taken as it was heading out the door for this evening's festivities.

And the final product, although somewaht askew.

Hopefully, we'll earn some dinero this evening.  Also, a bit of sunshine, after 3 days of snow.  Very nice.
