October was a BUSY Month!

Welcome if you are visiting for the first time from Lily's Quilts and the Fresh Sewing Day and Small Blog Meet, a fun way to visit new blogs... here's a run down of my busy October.  First off, I worked on finishing my "They're All Dalmatians" cow quilt, a 72nd birthday present for my Mom!

Also worked on my FMQ with this old project.

Started a new project (or two) as usual!

and slowly working on a Hexie's.

And the biggest news of all, my Granddaughter Nadin arrived in the states from the Philippines on October 10th!

Welcome to 'Merica Nadin!

Here's the links to the other blogs in the big Link Up!

Intimidation Factor

The Cow Quilt is ready, and waiting!

What now?

After pinning the Cow Quilt together,
I spent most of the day practicing my FMQ on a Christmas Quilt that was partly quilted a couple of years ago.  Also, found this fabric over the weekend.

Hippos are my fav!

And BIG news, my new Granddaugher Nadin, (and her Mom and Dad) arrive tomorrow evening from the Philippines.  I cannot wait to meet her!  They are in the air as I write this.  Nadin has a quilt waiting... Click on her name to see it.
It's late in these parts, I'm off to sleep.

Nadin Quilt Finish

It's dooone!   For my new girl Nadin.  Made from the scraps of the Lone Star Quilt.

Front

Pieced Back (As Quiltdiva Julie says "is there any other kind?)

A little closer...

Shhhhhhh, don't tell anyone, I like the back better than the front.

Love Grandma Kat!

Creativity

While traveling, sometimes having limited supplies on hand leads to a little creativity.... I used the scraps from Nadin's Quilt to make this little pot holder.  Time on your hands also helps, as I had time to have fun with the quilting on this little project.

I should have a finish on Nadin's Quilt tomorrow, the binding is on, just need to hand sew.  Speaking of hands, hop on over to Em's Blog to celebrate!!!   Happy weekend to all!

Nadin Quilt

We have a new granddaughter; her name is, you guessed it Nadin!  Our oldest son Beau married in February, so in addition to a lovely new daughter-in-law Merry, we have our first grandchild.  Beau, Merry and Nadin (4) live in the Philippines and we witnessed their wedding on Skype!  We are impatiently awaiting their arrival in 3-6 months. Hurry up VISAS!!  Welcome to the family Merry and Nadin.  PS, there is a great picture of them on my sidebar, about halfway down.
