Thrift Store

Look what I found at the thrift store this weekend....

Isn't she a beauty!
(I think it's funny I am thrilled by a new iron.)

and a not so vintage sheet...but who could pass it up?

This will be a great back for some project or another.

It's almost Friday, in fact I am minutes away... I'd better hit the sack.

My Fabric Stash

Well remember during the big sewing room move my fabric looked like this????

and this????

Now, using a little "out of the box" imagination....  I used my china hutch for my stash.

I'd like to report to you that is still looks that good, however, it would be a fib!  I dove in and started cutting and stitching last night, but it's nice to have everthing in some semblance of order!

Also, three more napkins!

Movin' on Up!

I have a new sewing room!!!!  Here's the scoop.  My old sewing room was in a den type room, connected to our great room/kitchen area.  A couple of weeks ago, I blogged about moving everything in the sewing room so we could install new carpet, what a mess!  The carpet was installed while we were on vacation, and as we drove (13 hour trip - one way)  my husband suggested moving my sewing room to our great room area!!!!  At first reluctant to spread my mess, I finally agreed, and am I ever a happy camper.

Lots of Light! (Em, Mary in the background!)

As you can see lots of natural light, so much so it is difficult to take photos.  This photo taken from the middle of the great room, we used this side as my sewing room and the other side as a sitting area, using my quilts and some furniture as a partition of sorts.

Partition
We moved the TV and couch to the smaller den, really a better place for it, you can now actually hear the TV, as in the great room, the sound was somewhat muffled and drowned out by the rest of the activity in this highly used part of our home.  As my husband said, "I had to get her out of her cave!"  Happy Sunday to all, I am off to stitch.

Tomorrow, (or the next day, whenever I get around to it!), my stash also has a new home.

Creativity

While traveling, sometimes having limited supplies on hand leads to a little creativity.... I used the scraps from Nadin's Quilt to make this little pot holder.  Time on your hands also helps, as I had time to have fun with the quilting on this little project.

I should have a finish on Nadin's Quilt tomorrow, the binding is on, just need to hand sew.  Speaking of hands, hop on over to Em's Blog to celebrate!!!   Happy weekend to all!

A Quilt Shop Visit

Since fabric is one of my favorite things in the world :),  like many of you I visit quilt shops when I'm out of town.  I now have the family looking for shops as we travel... haha!  Only one visit this trip,  we tried two other shops, however, one was closed and one was out of business or had moved.  While I have been visiting shops on my own for a while now, the whole family was waiting outside while I shopped.  My husband commented on how long I was in the shop.... I thought I had rushed through!

Probably meant as baby or children's fabric, I really like the stars, moons, hearts, words etc.

Great to be home!

Home Sweet Home

Hi All!  Home from vacation a day early after a 13 hour drive home from the beautiful state of Montana.  We had a great time, plenty of relaxing, some quilting, tubing, horseback riding, mountain lakes and the highlight, a trip to Glacier National Park and the Going to the Sun Road.

Breathtaking!

The kids...from left, Kelly, Cort and friend Teo.

The dog, Gino.

The fisherman...

Plenty of fun for all.  Stopped at one quilt store on Flathead Lake.  More about sewing/fabric tommorrow, off to my own bed tonight, as my friend Amber said, sometimes the best part about vacation is coming home!
