Nadin Quilt

We have a new granddaughter; her name is, you guessed it Nadin!  Our oldest son Beau married in February, so in addition to a lovely new daughter-in-law Merry, we have our first grandchild.  Beau, Merry and Nadin (4) live in the Philippines and we witnessed their wedding on Skype!  We are impatiently awaiting their arrival in 3-6 months. Hurry up VISAS!!  Welcome to the family Merry and Nadin.  PS, there is a great picture of them on my sidebar, about halfway down.

Chaos!!!!!!

We have moved 3 bedrooms (one of them MY SEWING ROOM!!) into our living room in anticipation of having new carpet installed... now the installation is set back to next Monday, ugh.  Torture.  ;)

View from the couch. YIKES.

My stash...

More stash, not all of it , I must confess!

Dining room table

I did save myself a little haven to create??? Not sure how much I'll get done this week.  I think it looks worse in the pictures than it really is!

Thanks to my big boys Brendan and Andrew for your sweat and muscle this weekend.

Napkins

Have been making a napkin or two each night in the sewing room... mix and match.  (Of course!)  I cut a pile of squares and hem a couple each evening.  Quick, easy and a fun way to enjoy my fabric everyday.

Lone Star Top

It's done, finished, complete... the top that is.  If you look closely at the blue back ground fabric, it has a top and bottom, and the print is large!  So, the cutting of the back ground took some time, and planning, and then some seam ripping, picking, re-cutting and re-sewing!  Ha, but finally a completed top that I am pleased with.

This pattern in a favorite inspirational book, Freddy and Gwen Collaborate Again, by Freddy Moran and Gwen Marston, their version shown on page 165.

I was also inspired by quilts made by my great, great grandmother shown in posts here and here.

It's almost Friday! Yay!

Damien Doodle too!

I forgot to post the little doodle that I packed in with the quilt today!!!

Also have you visited Em's newest little blog Celebrating Big Girl Pants, a collaborative effort celebrating free motion quilting!  Although I'm not a true FMQ, yet, I am posting the quilting on the Damien Quilt.... I'll get that FMQ going soon, it's just a matter of time. :)   Hop on over to check it out here!!!!!  (We'll see if I can figure out how to accept the invitation to the blog and make the post, eeeek.)

Damien Quilt Finish!

I have finished quilting, binding and washing the Damien Quilt for a soft, snuggly finish.

Mostly straight line quilting, I threw in some stars to mix it up.

It will be off to it's new home in OK next week.

Hope your enjoying the weekend.

It's Been a Busy, Busy Week

Tonight I am back to my happy spot, the sewing room!  I have been on the run for about a week straight and had a little flu bug as well, so it's great to be back.  And I've had a fabric card burning a hole in my pocket!

Couldn't leave these "Embroidery Angels" in the store!  Her name is Bianca Black.  Welcome home Bianca.

More fabric pics when I can take them in the daylight.  Also the Damien Quilt almost complete.

Lonestar Coming Along Nicely

Hello All, finally got the nerve to set in a couple of squares on the Lone Star Quilt and it is lookin good, although this photo kind of choppy.  Then I ran out of blue background fabric, ordered more and it arrived today, so the top should be completed soon.

PS   Setting those squares in was not as difficult as I was imagining, that was a nice surprise.  When piecing or quilting you just have to dive on in!  Can it be Wednesday evening already?  Goodnight.

Quilting Away

Between picnics and beaches, I did get some time in the sewing room this weekend... and came up with this.  A small quilt for another neice with a new baby.  (already a month old, yikes.)

Wonky letters, of course!

And even got a little quilting completed.

off to sleep now, Happy 4th!

It's all in the BAG!

LOVE this BAG, isn't it just GRAND!

Great label too...

Look what's inside...

Purchased at a local quilt show/convention, the Fabric Chicks store is located about 45 minutes south of Reno, so I'll have to stop in sometime.  Their website was not as colorful nor did not show as wide of selection of fabric as the booth, so I'm looking forward to visiting the store.   (a local fabric store I haven't visited?  How did that happen???)  I'll report back when I get a chance to visit.

Happy 4th of July!
