The Versatility of Flying Geese

Is this the most versatile of quilting blocks?  As I made a flock of flying geese today I thought of their versatility and reliability in my quilting projects.  It seems they always deliver...

Just Horsin' Around

A new project, yes... before my selvage quilt is completely finished.  This is for the one of my friends' 5 year old daughter.  The daughter chose the horse print, it is a top sheet, and I'm adding the rest.  I promised myself I'd keep it simple and so far, so good.  Here's a couple of blocks.

Here's several blocks together, planning at least three more and then I'll measure and decide what else to add.

Maybe a few flying geese?

I used some of my newest addition to my fabric stash.

I'm really glad tomorrow is Friday!  And I'll get that selvage quilt finished up soon. Promise, really.

Em Celebrates!

Thank you Em!  What a wonderful surprise to come home after a day at work and find a lovely package waiting for me, and what a package it was, wrapped and everything.  So here's the story, I run home from work at 5 o'clock and have to get my little guy's practice uniform (that he forgot) and run in out to him.  You know how it goes, like a firedrill, run home from work, run around the house to find the darned thing, jump in the car and drive 20 minutes to deliver it.  However, while running around the house I spy a lovely box sitting on the counter... I knew some "little surprise" was on it's way from Em... so I left it sitting there while I delivered the uniform so I could really savor it!  Finally, after thinking about the package and imagining what it could possibly be, I arrive home and find this!  And that's not all, a lovely bookmark as well.  You can visit Em's blog here:  Em Celebrates!

I won the quilt writing a comment about my favorite woman, my mom.  You can see my comment on Em's blog.  Thank you Em, what a wonderful and thoughtful "little" prize.

My Quilts Keep Growing and GROWING

I am finishing up my selvage quilt, and it just keeps growing.... so I thought back to some of my earlier quilts that began as small ideas and morphed into larger projects, one even to King sized!  This red and black quilt began as a small baby quilt.....

The over time, grew and Grew and GREW.......

And finally matured into this king sized monstrosity.

And some details.....

It'll be interesting to see how the selvage quilt ends up, all part of the fun and creativity of quilting!

Have a great weekend.

Selvage Quilt Progress

After two weeks of high school basketball play-offs, and games almost every night, I am home, and back in the sewing room.  Here's the progress on my selvage quilt.

I am thinking about removing the border, as I think it makes the quilt a little busy.  Keep in mind the border is only on three sides at this point.  Through the magic of technology, (and not a seam ripper), here is the borderless version.

If you have an opinion, let me know.

Also here's another spider web quilt I made last year.  It should be back from the quilter soon. All the circles in this quilt are made from scraps from previous quilts I have made.  (Sorry about that lamp in the middle of the pic.)
