Well, I had a few spare moments...

On a recent quick, yes, very quick jaunt to Portland, Oregon, I found a few spare moments... what to do? Hmmm?  There was no research, just a quick google maps for the closest, most interesting looking shop.  The purpose of the trip was not quilting, but I managed to fit in some hexie sewing and more excitingly a new shop.  These are from Cool Cottons.

 (Did you see Dia de los Muertos in my sidebar?  I cannot wait to get the binding on and share it with you.  Judy from Wild Irish  Rows Quilting is the most fantastic quilter, there are not words for what she did with this quilt.)

Selvage Quilt

Here's a looksy at my design board; the selvage quilt, log cabin style is coming along and you can see the pattern now.  I went through all my white fabrics and cut all the selvages off, kind of funny,  Usually, I just cut them as I use fabrics.  This is going to be king sized, so 25-30 eighteen inch blocks. 

and here's the whole design board, something's gotta give soon!

There's a pile of selvages in the bottom left corner  :)

 fabric last weekend as well...

Shhh, don't tell anyone, I already had this one!

More Stars and Moons

 I thought that I was over the stars and moons... and then ran into this fabric over the weekend. 

All are Laurel Burch prints... not exactly sure what I am doing with them.  We will see.  I also pcked up some new blacks and white fabric to share later.

Good Friday morning, look at all the nice Nevada sunshine today!  I ran out to take these pictures before work... I forgot yesterday morning.

I'll take some more quilting pictures when I have a kinder

 afternoon sun and you can see the texture a bit better.

I thought about a gold binding, but decided to stay with blue.

and... the back is a panel of the solar system, the stars glow in the dark.  I usually go with a pieced back, but fell in love with this panel!

Selvages, Log Cabin Style

           Another square for my second selvage quilt... I used the stars and moon quilt selvages.

and... here's what I have so far.

I sewed the binding on the Stars and Moon quilt this evening, should have it finished in the next day or so.  Just in time, the baby is due next week.  :)

Hexie Quilt

These little hexie's can be very vexing, I think I finally have a pattern and even started the outside border. 

I have thirty-ish diamonds completed or almost complete and figure 800 hexies for the diamonds and then add in the Black and White border, probably over 1000 thus far.  Sometimes I wonder what I have gotten myself into!

also this weekend, Stars and Moon Quilt completely quilted... now needs the border and I just need to put the border on the last quilt (of 5) that I'm finishing up for a friend... it will be nice to get that projected finished up.

Cort's Quilt... Finished!

Finished this up about a month ago and put it on Cort's bed... then remembered that it had never been shown as a finished product!  Here it is... I wish I had "fussy cut" those squares with the sports figures.... live and learn...

 

Simple stars and swirl pattern, I had this one quilted by a local longarm quilter.

With Orange thread!

Solid Red Binding, I have become quite fond of those solids.
